Queen Tipsy has been active as a 'live band'playing the NYC area for 10 years. They are known for their eclectic mix of musical styles and passionate performances on stage. They have won numerous performance grants over the years and in 2009 won a grant for excellent musical compositions for the original instrumental music written by Queen Tipsy guitarist Jon Specter. Inspired by this grant Queen Tipsy vocalist Phyllis Forman joined Jon Specter to write more original tunes for the band, this time with vocal parts. The collaboration continued during the recording process as other friend musicians were asked to add additional musical parts to the songs. So the 'live 4 piece band' became a larger recording band, recording original music and the project was successful. The recording process allowed more freedom and experimentation in the studio with a variety of sound but the Queen Tipsy live sound still comes through. From the linear notes of Queen Tipsy's new release 'Blue Passion' a full length CD of all original music: These original tunes are the work of our collaboration over the past several years. Although Jon was primarily a guitar sideman for the first 40 years of his musical career he was eager to create his own music. Phyllis was primarily a visual artist who was inspired to create music after singing for a few years with Queen Tipsy. Jon and I found our musical voices jived - very well- and began to write songs together -Jon; music, and Phyllis; lyrics (plus some melodies, right Jon?) Our Queen Tipsy band mates (Rick and Nat) helped us arrange and finetune the songs. Our stellar musical friends shared their talents on several of the songs - THANK YOU!! And Henry Falco and Moon Studios put it all together and then some. We hope you enjoy our efforts. Peace and Love, Phyllis Forman and Jon Specter.
