Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. 1973's Masterpiece was the last Temptations album recorded for Gordy (Motown) Records in Detroit's Hitsville U.S.A. studio before the label moved to Hollywood, CA. Written and produced by Norman Whitfield, the title track reached #1 on the Billboard R&B singles chart and "Plastic Man" and "Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)" were Top 40 hits. Mastered by Bernie Grundman, this 180gm black vinyl LP features original album artwork and is the first vinyl reissue of the album in 20 years. The title refers to the album being not the group's intended masterpiece, but Norman Whitfield's. "Masterpiece" became a #1 hit on the Billboard R&B singles chart, and a #7 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It's follow-up, "Plastic Man", hit #40 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)" also became a Top 40 hit in the late summer/early fall of 1973.
