Debut studio album by British new wave band Ultravox!, that convinced the public the exclamation mark after the band's name is fully deserved. "Ultravox!" is perhaps the last great 70s glam album that already sounded two years out of date and it's cynical explorations of the dodgier side of London seemed in tune to the punk movement of the time. Ultravox! Here are melodic, thrilling, exciting, slightly sinister and extremely artsy. The sharp guitars and shrieking violins that veer more towards a proto-punk sound, while the ethereal electronic element, particularly on "My Sex", almost screams new Romanticism.
