This release is part of the uDiscovermusic series, a new standard lineup for Universal Music's international catalog developed overseas and in Japan to serve as a place for "encounters with new music" by re-releasing masterpieces. It features Frankie Goes to Hollywood's second and final studio album, Liverpool, released after their mega-hit debut. The album marked a shift in sound from synth-dance toward a pop-rock direction, with Trevor Horn taking on an executive producer role and engineer Stephen Lipson handling production. The first single, "Rage Hard," inspired by the Dylan Thomas poem "Do not go gentle into that good night," was a success, hitting No. 4 in the UK. Subsequent singles included "Warriors of the Wasteland" (No. 19) and "Watching the Wildlife" (No. 28). The album itself peaked at No. 5 in the UK and earned a Gold disc. Though often overshadowed by the monumental success of Welcome to the Pleasuredome, this potent work is now due for a reassessment, decades after the initial frenzy. This edition is presented on SHM-CD specification and includes liner notes, lyrics, and Japanese translation.
